The offensive against ATMs in the province of Naples continues. At 4:30 this morning, the Carabinieri responded to Via XX Settembre in San Giuseppe Vesuviano for an attempted theft at a local bank.
The criminals, acting with extreme recklessness, used a stolen Alfa Romeo Giulietta as a battering ram, hurling it through the bank's glass facade. Their goal was clear: to tear open the building and remove the entire ATM.
Escaping empty-handed
Despite the force of the impact, the bandits' plan failed. For reasons still under investigation—possibly the alarm system or the imminent arrival of law enforcement—the criminals were unable to withdraw the money.
Cornered, the criminals abandoned the vehicle on the spot, disappearing on foot through the surrounding streets, leaving behind only the damage to the structure.
This is the second incident in just a few hours, following the attempted robbery in Naples using the "marmotta" technique (explosives inserted into the slots of vending machines), confirming the enormous criminal pressure on local banks.
Hunting for scientific findings
At the crime scene, in addition to the Carabinieri from the local station, officers from the Torre Annunziata Investigative Unit also attended to conduct technical investigations. The car used in the break-in has been seized and will undergo detailed forensic examination.
Investigators hope to isolate fingerprints or biological traces left by the bandits inside the Alfa Romeo, elements that could prove crucial in tracing the identities of the gang members and verifying connections with other similar raids in Campania.

It's incredible how these criminals can operate so freely and fearlessly. Security should be everyone's priority, but the situation in this area seems to be getting worse every day. Stronger action is needed.
