Vico Equense – The fury of severe weather has returned to the coast. During the night, heavy rainfall in the area caused a portion of a retaining wall located on a private property in the Scrajo area to collapse.

The collapse and the alarm

Mud and debris suddenly poured onto the roadway of the State Road 145 "Sorrentina," precisely at kilometer marker 14,7. Fortunately, the event did not involve any passing vehicles, but the mass of material immediately made the lane impassable, creating a serious traffic hazard.

The rescue car

The alarm was raised immediately, bringing soldiers from the Sorrento Carabinieri Company, firefighters, and Civil Protection volunteers to the scene. Authorities closed the road as a precaution, diverting traffic to allow for emergency operations.

Reopening times

Debris removal and technical checks on the stability of the remaining ridge have been underway since dawn. According to the relevant authorities, the safety operations are expected to be completed and the roadway reopened this morning, once minimum safety conditions for motorists have been restored.
