Naples – The first report comes in to 112: "A man is shooting from the balcony of his home. Run!" Carabinieri officers from the Poggioreale Company reach the home in the Barra neighborhood of eastern Naples.
On the balcony, a visibly agitated 75-year-old man had fired four blank shots from a blank pistol to scare away a group of youths who were disturbing his home. The elderly man was reported for unauthorized shooting, and the weapon was confiscated.
Energy theft and tax evasion: raids with E-Distribuzione
Nighttime checks, supported by E-Distribuzione staff, resulted in two reports of electricity theft. The owners of a bar on Corso San Giovanni a Teduccio and a restaurant on Via Stadera tampered with meters to make fraudulent withdrawals.
A 37-year-old man was also reported for tax evasion, caught outside his home without a valid reason. Two young men were in trouble for driving without a license, having relapsed two years earlier; another man was found guilty of providing false information, being on probation and prohibited from driving at night.
Slot machine halls under pressure: suspensions and illegal workers
Betting shops and slot machine parlors are under scrutiny. In Barra, on Via Cupa Vicinale dell'Olivo, the owner was reported for workplace safety violations and employing an illegal worker: fines of €9.600 and suspension of business.
Five more establishments were inspected for widespread irregularities: €30.200 in fines, four undocumented workers, a lack of information on responsible gaming, and structural violations. All were suspended from operations by the Customs and Monopolies Agency.
