A public area effectively transformed into a private parking lot, cordoned off with structures and artifacts installed without authorization. This is what the Naples Local Police discovered in the Barra neighborhood, following an operation conducted by officers from the San Giovanni Operational Unit on Corso Sirena.

During their inspection, the White Helmets determined that the publicly owned space had been illegally occupied and equipped for exclusive use by private vehicles. This was effectively a deprivation of the community, accomplished through unauthorized construction that prevented citizens from freely using the area.

Following the investigation, the area and the installed structures were placed under preventive seizure, a measure aimed at halting the continuation of the illegal activity and allowing the subsequent restoration of the site's condition. This action is part of efforts to combat illegal occupation of public land, a phenomenon that impacts both the urban decorum and the usability of common spaces.

The investigation also identified the alleged perpetrator of the occupation, who has been reported to the Judicial Authorities. He is accused of violations of urban planning and building regulations and the unlawful appropriation and use of public property. This intervention aims to return illegally stolen space to the community and reaffirm the principle that public land cannot be converted to private use without regulations or permits.

It's incredible that someone could occupy a public space like this, without any authorization. The strange thing is that the authorities didn't take action sooner. Let's hope situations like this don't happen again in the future.
