Benevento – A violent attack rocked the rural area bordering the municipalities of Paduli and Sant'Arcangelo Trimonte this afternoon.
A 37-year-old man, a security guard by profession, fired several shots at his 46-year-old wife, seriously wounding her. The incident occurred near the couple's residence in the Femina Arsa area.
The rush to the hospital and the delicate operation
The woman was immediately treated and taken to San Pio Hospital in Benevento with critical condition. According to the hospital's latest medical report, the 46-year-old suffered deep wounds to her left axillary region and abdomen.
Doctors performed immediate intubation and urgently transferred him to the operating room for a delicate axillary artery reconstruction procedure. Although his condition is currently described as "stable" by medical staff, the prognosis remains guarded.
A separation marked by conflicts
The 37-year-old's extreme act appears to be haunted by a marital crisis that has become irreparable. The couple, who have two children, ages 9 and 12, were in the process of separating. Fortunately, the children were not present at the time of the shooting.
From initial reconstructions carried out by the Carabinieri of the Benevento Company, coordinated by the Sannio Prosecutor's Office, it appears that the arguments between the two had become frequent in recent times, culminating today in the dramatic injury.
The arrest and the charges
The Carabinieri officers, who promptly arrived at the crime scene, located the man, who offered no resistance. The security guard was taken to the Provincial Command offices for questioning.
The weapon used, a rifle, was seized to verify its legal possession. The man is now being charged with attempted aggravated femicide. Investigations are continuing to reconstruct the exact sequence of the shooting and determine whether there were any warning signs or previous reports.

This event is truly worrying and makes us reflect on the domestic violence that unfortunately occurs in our country. I'm deeply concerned about the situation of my children, and I hope they receive the support they need to get through these difficult times.
