Since the early hours of this morning, a large-scale operation by the Carabinieri of the Caserta Provincial Command, coordinated by the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate, has been underway against a criminal organization believed to be linked to the Camorra.
The multi-pronged order concerns numerous suspects charged, to varying degrees, with Camorra-style criminal association, extortion, arson, and illegal possession and carrying of weapons. The charges also include drug trafficking, receiving stolen goods, and threats and assault.
The raid particularly affected the Gagliardi clan of Mondragone.
The operation is part of the effort to combat organized crime in the Caserta area, with the aim of dismantling the structures and economic interests of the criminal group targeted by investigators.
The Carabinieri operation was important in combating crime. However, I wonder if it's enough to definitively stop the Gagliardi clan and other similar groups, given the complex situation.
