Naples – Extraordinary checks are back at Porta Capuana. Yesterday, February 19th, a large contingent of law enforcement officers conducted a joint operation in the city's historic district, carrying out identification and checks on vehicles in transit.
The operation, implemented by the Naples Police Headquarters as part of the intensification of public order operations in the area, involved officers from the Vicaria Mercato, Montecalvario, Dante, and Scampia police stations, along with members of the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza. Local police and the Metro also participated in the raid.
The operation's numbers reveal intense enforcement activity: 262 people were identified, 45 of whom had previous police records. Regarding road traffic, 121 vehicles were checked, resulting in three administrative seizures and 15 confirmed traffic violations. Criminal sanctions were also imposed: two people were reported at large for driving without a license.

The Porta Capuana operation appears to have been very effective, but I'm not sure I support such frequent checks. They could create tension among people and not solve the underlying problems.
