Naples – Carabinieri raid in the heart of the suburban drug dealing ring: officers from the Bagnoli Company's Operational Unit made a swift arrest in the Soccavo neighborhood, a historically sensitive area, along with the nearby Rione Traiano, for retail drug trafficking.
Late yesterday evening, Carabinieri anti-drug officers identified two suspects on Via Marco Aurelio, one of the busiest streets for drug trafficking. They are Emanuele Pironti, 21, born in Naples on May 25, 2004, and Vincenzo Annunziata, 38, born on December 27, 1987. Both are known to law enforcement for specific criminal convictions.
When the alarm was raised, the two attempted to flee on foot, but the officers—after a brief chase—stopped them and searched them on the spot. Their purse revealed a veritable "drug dealing kit": 9 grams of cocaine, 56 grams of hashish, and 32 grams of marijuana.
The drugs were already divided into doses ready for retail sale, a clear sign of organized drug dealing activity in the area. Pironti and Annunziata were arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to distribute and taken to prison pending a summary trial.
The operation is part of a series of "wide-ranging" operations that the Carabinieri of the Bagnoli Company are intensifying in the western quadrants of Naples, between Soccavo and Rione Traiano, to combat the rampant phenomenon of street dealing. Investigations are continuing to verify any links to more structured groups and to identify the supply chain of the seized substance.
A clear signal: law enforcement pressure is not abating on these drug dealing hubs, despite the resilience of the phenomenon in some Neapolitan suburbs.

The article describes a complicated situation in Naples, where drugs are still sold on the streets. The Carabinieri are right to carry out checks, but the problem seems to be ever-present and difficult to address as it should be.
