Caposele – The Carabinieri of Caposele have charged the owner of a car registration agency based in the province of Naples with fraud and impersonation by a public official in public documents. The man had arbitrarily registered a luxury car in the name of a woman living in the Irpinia municipality, without the victim's knowledge.
The fraudulent mechanism
According to the reconstruction by the Carabinieri investigators, after having fictitiously registered the vehicle to the woman from Caposele, the traffic officer subsequently sold the car to a dealership through false declarations, thus completing the criminal plan.
The tax audit that reveals the scam
The case, which dates back to 2020, only came to light last year when the Revenue Agency served the woman with a tax assessment for failure to pay taxes related to the sale of the vehicle. It was then that the victim discovered she owned a luxury car whose existence she had been completely unaware of.
