Capri's iconic piazzetta is unusually empty: just a few tables, a few chairs, and only a handful of bundled-up tourists. The uncertain weather, however, is playing in the azure island's favor, as it takes advantage of the opportunity to revamp its look for the warmer weather.

The streets, crowded in the summer, are half-deserted: some are repainting the facade of their B&Bs, some are taking inventory of the shops ready to shine during the golden age of international shopping, and some – like the municipal technicians – are fixing utilities and utilities in front of the grand hotels that exude the sweet life.

Bookings boom, early summer is coming

The trend in reservations suggests a summer that will start with a bang on Palm Sunday, March 28th. You might as well be prepared. The streets of Capri are transformed into mini-construction sites: from the repaving of Piazza Diaz, near the funicular ticket office, to the panoramic terrace, where you can take in the entire Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius in a single glance.

Safety first: barriers at the lookout

There was a risk of water leaks in the station below, and the Municipality of Capri took immediate action, cordoning off the most admired open-air lounge in the Mediterranean. The goal: to make it more beautiful and safe for the millions of incoming visitors. The azure island is preparing to shine once again.
