Caserta – The circle closed this morning. Months after that afternoon of gratuitous violence, the Caserta Flying Squad has given names and faces to the members of the "pack" responsible for the savage beating that took place in the parking lot of the Salesian Institute.
Three young people, including a minor at the time of the incident, have been placed under precautionary measures, charged with grievous bodily harm. This measure of justice comes in the wake of National Anti-Bullying Day, once again underscoring the urgency of curbing a worryingly growing phenomenon.
Fractures and titanium plates: permanent damage
The violence occurred last July, turning a youth gathering place into the scene of a brutal attack. The victim, a minor, was surrounded and repeatedly beaten.
The medical toll is dramatic: the young man suffered permanent damage to his chewing skills. The attackers' fury caused him a bifocal fracture of the jaw, forcing him to undergo delicate surgery to reduce the injury and apply two titanium plates. A physical and psychological wound that the boy will carry with him forever.
The investigation: betrayed by video surveillance
The investigation began immediately after the victim's father filed a complaint. Investigators from the Flying Squad, coordinated by the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Public Prosecutor's Office and the Naples Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, reconstructed the incident through meticulous cross-referencing.
The testimonies of those present and, above all, the analysis of the footage recorded by the institute's video surveillance system, which captured the scene and allowed the identification of the three perpetrators, an adult and two minors (one of whom turned 18 during the investigation), proved crucial.
Electronic bracelet and ban on "movida"
Based on the evidence gathered, the prosecutors requested and obtained from the investigating judge the precautionary measures executed today. Justice has come down hard on the three suspects with severe requirements:
For the adult: a ban on approaching the injured party was imposed, and an electronic bracelet was applied to monitor his movements.
For the other two youths: in addition to being prohibited from approaching the victim, they were also ordered to stay at home during the night (a sort of curfew) and were absolutely banned from frequenting public places, depriving them of the opportunity to participate in the "nightlife".
This strong message comes during a weekend dedicated to raising awareness about youth violence, reminding us that gang actions have real and severe criminal consequences.

What happened is very serious, and I wonder how young people could get to this point. Justice must take its course, but I also hope there's a change in young people's thinking.
