Santa Maria Capua Vetere – Francesco Iannone, 54, known to the press as "Pippetto," has been acquitted. The Santa Maria Capua Vetere Court cleared the man, originally from Arienzo, of escaping house arrest, despite the prosecutor's office having raised the aggravating circumstance of repeat offenders within the last five years.
The Prosecutor's challenge
According to the prosecution, Iannone violated the provisions of the precautionary measure he was subject to in the municipality of Mondragone. The 54-year-old was serving house arrest following a previous release obtained by the preliminary hearing judge of the Court of Naples as part of a vast drug trafficking investigation.
The criminal profile and the connection with the "Cerviari"
Investigators consider Francesco Iannone a leading figure in organized drug dealing. According to the DDA's investigation, he held a top position, working alongside the chief promoter Filippo Piscitelli, within the criminal syndicate known as the "Cerviari" of San Marco Trotti, which engaged in international drug trafficking.
Although the Public Prosecutor had requested a conviction, emphasizing the individual's dangerousness and specific prior history, the panel of judges overturned expectations. The Court, fully accepting the arguments presented by Iannone's lawyer, Vittorio Fucci, handed down an acquittal, thus closing the proceedings against the 54-year-old.

This is interesting news because it shows how justice can make different decisions even in complicated cases. I don't know if it's fair or not, but it seems the lawyer did a good job for Iannone.
