Caserta – What seemed like a routine afternoon check along the Appian Way turned into a drug operation with grim consequences.
The Carabinieri of the Caserta Mobile Radio Section arrested a 40-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man, both from Maddaloni, who were caught with a load of narcotics while traveling with the woman's minor son.
The control and the disturbing discovery
During a patrol of the area, the officers' attention was drawn to a car carrying the two suspects. Making the situation even more delicate was the presence of the forty-year-old's son, a ten-year-old boy, in the back seat.
The excessive nervousness shown by the two occupants at the time of the arrest prompted the Carabinieri to further investigate with an immediate search.
The drug dealing kit: doses, knives and banknotes
The search operations, which extended from the vehicle to the homes of the arrested individuals, uncovered a veritable "kit" ready for retail sale. A total of the following were seized:
36,5 grams of hashish and 6 grams of cocaine;
Two knives probably used for cutting substances;
Various materials for packaging in doses.
Investigators were particularly struck by the cash available: €3.760 in cash, divided into small denomination banknotes, an amount believed to be the proceeds of the illicit activity carried out up to that point.
All the material, including the money and drugs, was seized. The couple was charged with conspiracy to possess narcotics. By order of the judicial authorities, both were placed under house arrest.
The fast-track trial is scheduled for Monday, February 23, 2026, when the two will have to answer not only for the drug charges, but also for the minor's indirect involvement in the affair.

This article is very disturbing and makes you think about how situations can get out of hand. The presence of a child in these circumstances is truly disturbing. I hope justice is served for the minor involved.
