Casoria – Debris removal operations began this morning at 8:00 a.m. in the area of Via Cavour, Casoria, affected by the January 23rd collapse. The work was made possible thanks to the partial release from seizure ordered to allow for preliminary work on the site, which has been at the center of an emergency for weeks, resulting in the evacuation of 20 families.
Joint intervention and institutional coordination
The fire department and municipal technical staff are working on site. The municipal administration reports that the operational phase began after "intense and constant institutional discussions" with the Naples Prefecture and the provincial Fire Department command to expedite the necessary technical steps.
Debris and structural inspections: reinstatement only with a positive opinion
The ongoing activities are preparatory in nature: they include debris removal and structural inspections of the affected buildings. Only with a favorable technical assessment will it be possible to authorize the return of some of the evicted residents, limited to those buildings deemed completely safe.
Mayor Bene: "We are taking concrete action."
"I thank the Prefecture of Naples and Prefect Michele di Bari for their continued attention and institutional support, as well as the Provincial Fire Brigade Command, led by Engineer Giuseppe Paduano, for their professionalism and prompt response," said Casoria Mayor Raffaele Bene. "The partial release of the seizure allows us to take concrete action today. Our goal is to allow, where possible and in complete safety, the return of some residents and thus begin to gradually reduce the emergency."
Family support and next steps
Alongside the technical interventions, assistance to families continues: a support team is available in the municipal library, providing information and psychological support, while accommodation continues in the facilities identified through collaboration between the Municipality and the Region. Once the assessment phase and any initial returns are completed, attention will be focused on those housing units that show critical issues and greater structural vulnerabilities.

It's good that the debris is finally being removed from Via Cavour, but I hope everything is done safely. However, there are many things that can be improved in the management of these operations. It's important to conduct the necessary checks.
