An update meeting was held today in Naples, convened by Prefect Michele di Bari, to review the situation of the displaced and the ongoing interventions in the buildings on Via Cavour, Casoria, affected by the partial collapse of a building that occurred at the end of January.

The meeting was attended by the mayor of Casoria, Raffaele Bene, the regional councilor for Civil Protection, Fiorella Zabatta, representatives of the Fire Brigade, the competent local health authority, and the police.

Eighty-three displaced, but the number is set to decrease

During the meeting, an updated picture was provided of the people who have not yet been able to return to their homes. Currently, approximately 83 residents, representing 26 families, are still homeless.

This figure, according to what has emerged, is expected to progressively decrease over the course of the week, thanks to ongoing and planned technical inspections of the affected buildings. Meanwhile, safety measures and debris removal operations by the competent authorities continue.

The checks in Vico VII Padre Ludovico have been completed

Mayor Bene also announced the completion of the inspections of the buildings in Vico VII Padre Ludovico da Casoria, which also suffered structural problems following the collapse. The evacuated families have been ordered to return to their homes.

This is a positive sign in a still delicate context, which requires timely checks and technical delays to ensure adequate safety conditions.

The joint work of the institutions

The Prefecture, the Campania Region, the Municipality of Casoria, the Fire Brigade, and the Local Health Authority are working together to support the families affected, ensuring assistance and services while they wait for their return home.

Prefect Di Bari expressed his full solidarity with the citizens affected by the incident, emphasizing the special attention paid to families with vulnerable individuals. The hope is to allow them to return to their homes as soon as possible, or, where necessary, find stable alternative accommodation, reaffirming the ongoing commitment of all institutions involved.
