An afternoon of ordinary madness unfolded yesterday in Chiaiano, where a banal traffic dispute escalated into a brutal assault. State Police arrested a 63-year-old Neapolitan man, already known to law enforcement, on charges of aggravated assault.
Police intervention
The alarm was raised early yesterday afternoon, when the Operations Room received a report of a violent brawl in progress on Via Giovanni Antonio Campano. Officers from the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue, engaged in their usual territorial patrol, promptly arrived on the scene and found themselves confronted by a scene of bloodshed and tension.
Assault with improper weapons
According to police findings, the 63-year-old man allegedly unleashed his fury on two people, a 58-year-old father and his 30-year-old son. The argument, apparently sparked by minor incidents, quickly escalated from words to action: the attacker struck the two victims using both a knife and a stick. During the fight, the suspect also sustained several injuries.
The arrest and kidnapping
The timely intervention of the uniformed officers prevented potentially fatal consequences. The man, who has a criminal record for similar crimes, was immediately apprehended and arrested. The officers also recovered and seized the weapons used during the assault, which remain at the disposal of the judicial authorities for further investigation.
