Dramatic and angry scenes unfolded outside the Sion Prosecutor's Office in Switzerland upon the arrival of Jacques and Jessica Moretti, owners of the "Le Constellation" restaurant in Crans-Montana, the site of the devastating New Year's Eve fire that killed 41 people.
According to the Swiss newspaper Blick, several relatives of the victims rushed toward the couple, shouting phrases like, "You killed our children." The Morettis were able to enter the building only with police protection, while the family members subsequently left the area.
The desperate screams and pain of the relatives
In a video published by the Swiss newspaper, the family members' heart-rending cries can be heard. A woman cries out in despair: "Where is my son?", followed by harsh accusations: "You will pay dearly, murderers." A man shouts: "Take responsibility," while another woman screams: "You will have this on your conscience."
Amidst the broken voices, a man says: "My son is dead, he burned." Another woman adds: "Money isn't enough; children's lives can't be bought. Pay, take responsibility."
The verbal clash with Jacques Moretti
During the most tense moments, a direct exchange was also recorded between a woman and Jacques Moretti. "The mafia, pay 200 euros and it's over," the woman accused. "There's no mafia, we're workers," Moretti replied.
To a further shouted question—“Where is my baby?”—Moretti responds with “I’m sorry,” a phrase that provokes an immediate reaction: “‘I’m sorry’ doesn’t apply to this,” the woman retorts.
The defense's version
After the incident, the Morettis' lawyer, Nicola Meier, stated that his clients had repeatedly expressed their desire to meet with the victims' families to listen to them and explain their experiences.
"This wasn't an explanation, but an assault, as you saw, with even physical overflow. We didn't expect the police to be absent," the lawyer stated.
Tension also during the interrogation
During a break in Jessica Moretti's questioning, which was still ongoing, Meier himself was approached by the brother of one of the victims, verbally assaulted and pushed. He was forced to leave the area where journalists were present.
A day marked by pain, anger, and tension, capturing the full emotional impact of a tragedy that has shocked Switzerland and left dozens of families without answers.

I don't know if words are enough to describe the pain and anger of the victims' families. It's unbelievable that such things can happen, and Moretti's response seems insufficient. Let's hope for justice and truth.
