In Brusciano, after a season of firecrackers and intimidating attacks, a new criminal front has emerged: arson. Late yesterday afternoon, Carabinieri officers from the Castello di Cisterna branch responded to a fire on Via Antonio De Curtis involving a Smart car parked along the road.
The car was completely destroyed by the flames, which quickly spread to three other parked vehicles, which were partially damaged. Firefighters were also on site to extinguish the fire and secure the area.
No injuries were reported, but investigators are not ruling out arson. Technical investigations are underway to determine the presence of any accelerants or initiators.
Criminal escalation in Brusciano, Acerra, and Marigliano
The incident occurs amid a period of significant instability that has affected not only Brusciano but also neighboring municipalities, particularly Acerra and Marigliano, for months.
Recently, the area has been the scene of a worrying escalation, with armed groups, ambushes, and intimidating raids. Several shots have been fired at the shutters of businesses and private homes, clear signs of growing criminal tension.
The clash over drug dealing areas and construction sites
For years, the region has been plagued by a never-ending conflict between emerging groups and established clans, both engaged in conquering drug dealing hubs and managing rackets linked to construction sites.
Among the criminal families historically rooted in the area are also groups linked to the Rega-Piacente family, opposed to new blood intent on redefining balances and hierarchies.
A competition that increasingly translates into demonstrations and acts of intimidation aimed at marking territory.
The strategy of tension in the “219” district
The string of attacks recorded in recent months recalls patterns previously seen in the "219" neighborhood, considered a hotspot for local criminal activity. The use of homemade explosives and repeated violent attacks appear to be part of a deliberate strategy of tension.
The aim would be to demonstrate a constant operational capacity, despite the investigative pressure and recent arrests made by law enforcement.
Hunt for the perpetrators, cameras under scrutiny
The investigation is now focusing on analyzing video surveillance systems in the area to identify any perpetrators or reconstruct the movements of those who may have acted under cover of darkness.
Meanwhile, concern is growing among residents, increasingly frightened by a spiral of violence that, with bombs, gunfire, and fires, continues to transform the area into a relentless criminal battlefield.

The situation in Brusciano is truly worrying. Violence is increasing, and the fires demonstrate the rise in crime. I don't know how we can stop this cycle of fear and violence.
