Naples – Father Maurizio Patriciello, pastor of Parco Verde parish in Caivano, is taking action to defend the 32 employees of the Harmont & Blaine plant at risk of layoffs. In a social media post published this afternoon, the priest made an impassioned appeal to the unions, the Campania Region, and the government to urgently find a solution to the crisis at the Campania manufacturing hub.
The parish priest's appeal: "It's unthinkable to lay off 32 families."
"I hope and pray that a solution will be reached soon," Patriciello wrote. "It is unthinkable to lay off 32 employees. I stand with those who are trembling for their future these days. The unions, the Campania Region, and the government, together, will find an adequate solution."
The parish priest, known for his work against eco-mafia and supporting the most vulnerable, links the emergency to the constitutional principle: "Our Republic is founded on work. These dear people ask only to be able to continue working to support their families."

I also believe that institutions need to be more committed to protecting jobs. It's unfair that families suffer because of companies' decisions.
It's a very complicated situation; I don't know how they can lay off so many people. The economic crisis is severe, and I think they should find a way to help employees instead of laying them off.
