Naples – They seemed like a normal cohabiting couple, ready to enjoy Friday night in the heart of Neapolitan nightlife. In reality, for Giuseppe Ebro, 57, and Maria Pipolo, 49, the weekly rendezvous with the crowds in Piazza Bellini was the perfect opportunity for their small, illicit business.
But the watchful eye of investigators broke up the criminal association, leading to the arrest of the two, residents of Cavone, on charges of possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
The suspicious exchange in the middle of the night
It all happened shortly before 8:00 PM on Friday. Officers from the Dante and Vicaria-Mercato police stations, engaged in an extraordinary patrol operation commissioned by the Naples Police Headquarters to combat drug dealing in the nightlife scene, noticed the couple acting suspiciously near a business a few steps from Piazza Bellini.
The police's attention focused specifically on Giuseppe Ebro, who, after removing something from a backpack, quickly handed it to a young customer in exchange for money. The buyer quickly walked away, but the two dealers had no escape route: the raid began immediately.
The search: drugs and money in the house
Arrested at the scene, the two were searched. The man was found in possession of 26 packages of hashish, 11 of marijuana, and €195 in cash, divided into bills of various denominations. The woman was found with five packages of hashish, two of marijuana, and €50. The haul of a street-level drug dealer, however, suggested a much larger operation.
Investigators, armed with well-founded suspicions, extended the search to the couple's home on Via Francesco Saverio Correra. Inside, cleverly concealed, they discovered a veritable stash of narcotics: three containers of marijuana, a wrap of hashish, a precision scale, packaging materials, and €1.500 in cash, presumed proceeds of drug dealing.
The final balance of the seizure speaks clearly: just over a kilo and a half of marijuana and approximately 360 grams of hashish.
Two profiles, one accusation
After the usual formalities at the police station, Giuseppe Ebro and Maria Pipolo were sent to prison. For him, who will face charges of possession with intent to traffic, this isn't his first encounter with the law, as he has a prior conviction. For her, however, who until yesterday had no criminal record, her debut in the world of crime ended with a night in jail.
The couple, who acted in perfect harmony, will now have to answer for their actions before the judge, without prejudice to the presumption of innocence until a final conviction.

I've read carefully, and there's much to think about. I don't understand how people can be reduced to this kind of life. Let's hope there's more education and opportunities for young people, so they don't choose the wrong path.
The article presents an alarming situation regarding nightlife in Naples. It's worrying that even seemingly ordinary people can be involved in illegal activities. I hope the authorities continue to implement rigorous controls to prevent similar incidents.
