Pomigliano – Moments of fear erupted this morning in the heart of Pomigliano d'Arco, where a car caught fire during rush hour, threatening to cause a serious accident. The town center was blocked for over an hour, creating traffic chaos coinciding with school opening hours.

It all started around 10:00 a.m. on Via Raffaello, a stone's throw from Piazza Giovanni Leone. The driver of a Y10 dual-fuel (gasoline and LPG) car, noticing smoke coming from the hood, promptly pulled over and alerted the local police.

Within minutes, three traffic police patrols arrived, cordoning off the area, diverting traffic, and securing residents and passersby. As the flames raged and tires exploded with a loud bang, the officers—supported by several residents—did not hesitate to directly attack the burning vehicle, containing the blaze and preventing it from spreading to neighboring homes.

The firefighters then arrived on the scene and completed the extinguishing operations. The car was finally removed by a tow truck and traffic was restored.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the incident highlighted the Municipal Police's prompt response and actions in a high-risk situation, preventing much more serious damage.
