Carabinieri from the Forino station reported a 56-year-old local woman for possession of counterfeit banknotes, following a territorial control operation established to prevent and suppress crime.
The woman was driving a car stopped in a residential area. During their checks, officers noticed a suspicious package inside the vehicle. In light of the driver's reportedly anomalous responses regarding the contents, they proceeded to search her and the vehicle.
Counterfeit banknotes worth a total of €10.000 were found inside the package. The money was seized, and the 56-year-old woman was reported to the Avellino Public Prosecutor's Office.
The operation, the Carabinieri explained, is part of the efforts to combat the circulation of counterfeit currency conducted by the Avellino Provincial Carabinieri Command.

It's important that anti-counterfeiting checks continue, but I wonder how exactly those 10.000 euros were found and whether there's a network behind them. I hope the investigation sheds light, slowly but with precision and transparency throughout.
I understand the work of the force and I understand prevention, but it seems that there are procedures that could have been done differently: the personal and vehicle searches are delicate and it was necessary to follow the rules step by step, to avoid disputes and guarantee the rights of the arrested person.
Interesting news, but not everything seems clear: the police stopped the car and found a possibly suspicious package. The woman was making strange responses, so they checked her. It's a fair check, but questions remain about how the money got there and whether anyone else is involved.
