Giugliano – The stolen car laundering business run by a 35-year-old local man is on its last legs. His illegal activity was disrupted by a targeted intervention by the Pozzuoli Carabinieri Forestry Unit, engaged in environmental and predatory crime prevention services.
The operation led to the arrest of the man in flagrante and the seizure of the entire area used.
The clandestine workshop in the countryside
The scene of the crime is a private property located in the countryside of Giugliano in Campania, an area of approximately 350 square meters that had long been under the scrutiny of investigators. The site, cleverly hidden from view by awnings and tarps, had been set up as a veritable illegal workshop for dismantling vehicles.
Cannibalized cars and a rediscovered identity
Inside the area, the officers made a revealing discovery: four completely "cannibalized" car carcasses, stripped of all mechanical components, bodywork, and, of course, license plates. Subsequent investigations, focusing on the chassis numbers, left no room for doubt: all the vehicles were reported stolen, recently filed with law enforcement.
The advanced stage of dismantling and the systematic concealment operations to prevent the identification of the vehicles demonstrated the professional and repeated nature of the criminal activity.
For this reason, the Carabinieri Forestali did not hesitate to arrest the 35-year-old local resident, believed to be responsible for a systematic money laundering operation. He is now accused of converting agricultural land into a landfill and an illegal processing center for stolen cars.

I think the Carabinieri operation is important in stopping the laundering of stolen cars, but it's strange that so many stolen vehicles are in one place. I hope there's more enforcement in the future to prevent these crimes.
