NAPLES – A violent fire has devastated the Sannazaro Theater on Via Chiaia, in the heart of the city. The flames, which broke out in the morning, also engulfed adjacent buildings, forcing the evacuation of approximately sixty people and mobilizing a massive rescue operation.
The prefect Michele of Bari The Emergency Coordination Center convened to review the emergency. Representatives from the Region, the Naples 1 Center Local Health Authority, ARPAC, the Fire Department, the Municipality, and law enforcement attended the meeting.
Three firefighting teams, supported by a ladder truck and several emergency vehicles, are still engaged in extinguishing and securing the fire. The operation is particularly complex due to the building's structure, which features corridors and internal connections connecting the theater to neighboring apartments. The flames have reached twenty-two residential units, which were immediately evacuated.
From a medical point of view, four people were assisted on site while four others were transported to hospitals. Vecchio Pellegrini Hospital e Fatebenefratelli Hospital for investigations related to smoke inhalation. No injuries were reported.
The entire surrounding area has been closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic to allow for rescue operations. At the request of the Fire Department, the power supply has been temporarily suspended and will be restored only when safety conditions permit.
Meanwhile theARPAC The city is installing a smoke detection unit, while the municipal Civil Protection Department has intervened to provide assistance to evacuated residents. The situation remains under constant monitoring, with emergency responders working to quell the remaining active fires within the theater and surrounding apartments.
