Intensified controls have been implemented at the ports of Ischia and Procida to monitor tourist flows and arrivals on the islands. Among the cases that have emerged, the Carabinieri have arrested Daniele Pompeo, 38, a Neapolitan man already known to law enforcement.

The man was stopped at the hydrofoil landing stage in the port of Forio. When asked by the police, he presented a valid travel ID, which turned out to be a fake. The document listed a residence on the island of Ischia, believed to be a ploy to obtain the discounted fares offered by shipping companies to island residents.

After the investigations, the 38-year-old was arrested and escorted to the San Lorenzo neighborhood, where he was placed under house arrest pending trial.

A rent negotiation fell through, followed by the break-in: 47-year-old reported

During the same checks, the Carabinieri also intervened following a local woman's plea for help. Shortly before, she had shown an apartment to a man interested in renting it, who later changed his mind, ruining the deal.

Upon returning to the building, the woman noticed signs of an intrusion and, fearing a burglary, alerted the police. Upon arriving, the Carabinieri saw a man on the balcony, clearly agitated and holding a kitchen knife: it was the same individual who had inspected the apartment a few hours earlier.

The man, a 47-year-old Albanian citizen, was stopped and reported.

Casamicciola: 35-year-old charged with switchblade and drug charges

On the sidelines of the operation, in the port of Casamicciola, the Carabinieri reported a 35-year-old man from Marano di Napoli for possession of weapons. The man was found with a switchblade and two doses of narcotics, including cocaine and hashish.

Overall, 93 people were identified and 63 vehicles were checked.

Naples – Ischia and Procida are isolated. It seems to me that port checks are necessary to avoid problems. But arresting people for false documents is fair; illegal activities are not allowed. Let's hope tourists respect the rules.
