Caserta– A night of violence that could have turned tragic unfolded in Lusciano, in the Caserta area. A 49-year-old man was arrested on charges of robbing a bank employee, even firing a gunshot to intimidate him before fleeing with the loot.

The ambush and the fight

The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning. The victim, a 52-year-old bank employee in Melito di Napoli, was surprised by the robber as he was returning home. A struggle ensued between the two, during which the robber fired a shot into the wrong direction.

Despite the victim's resistance, the 49-year-old managed to steal the wallet containing the bank branch keys. The attacker then fled in a gray Fiat Punto, where an as-yet-unidentified accomplice was waiting. The bank employee, who suffered a head injury, was treated on the scene by emergency medical services.

Lightning investigations: the video trail

The immediate intervention of the Carabinieri from the Aversa Company and the Parete Station closed the investigation within hours. By cross-referencing eyewitness accounts with images from public and private video surveillance systems, the officers were able to isolate the license plate number of the vehicle used in the raid.

The vehicle was registered to the suspect, who was later found at his home in Casandrino, in the province of Naples.

The raid and the seized material

During the house search, the Carabinieri found damning evidence: the purse stolen from the victim; the clothing worn during the robbery; an 8 mm blank pistol and a box containing 35 6,35 caliber cartridges.

The grey Fiat Punto reported by witnesses was also found and seized in the courtyard of the building.

The man was transferred to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison. He faces serious charges: conspiracy to commit robbery, illegal possession of a weapon, illegal possession of ammunition, and menacing. Investigations are continuing to identify the accomplice who was driving the car during the escape.

I read the article and honestly I don't know what to say, the whole thing seems confusing, the person who was hit seemed to resist but it's not clear if there were other accomplices, the Carabinieri carried out the seizure, but details and timing are missing, it will take time to understand everything, I hope that answers are found soon but I can't say much.
