Gubbio – A cohabitation transformed into a nightmare of fear, violence, and humiliation. This is what a woman allegedly endured for approximately three months at the hands of her partner, a 46-year-old man from Campania, who was the focus of a Carabinieri operation that led to his capture.
Soldiers from the Gubbio Company, in collaboration with their colleagues from the Caivano Company (Naples), executed a pre-trial detention order issued by the investigating judge of the Perugia Court. The charge is domestic abuse.
The spiral of violence
According to investigators' findings, the harassing behavior was repeated and increasingly serious. The man is accused of subjecting his partner to death threats, physical assaults, and verbal abuse. This climate of terror, according to the complaint, also affected the couple's minor daughter, who witnessed the violent incidents on several occasions.
The investigation, initiated after the victim's complaint, documented a pattern of abuse that had been ongoing for approximately three months. The abuse allegedly occurred both in Umbria and during periods spent in the suspect's home region.
The car attack and the rescue
One incident reported by investigators appears particularly violent. It allegedly occurred last February, when, during an argument, the man grabbed his partner by the neck, forcefully pushing her head between the seat and the door of the car they were traveling in. The woman was saved only thanks to the timely intervention of a relative, who was present at the time of the attack.
The capture and the change of measure
The man was located and arrested in a municipality in the Naples area. His status, however, changed in the hours that followed. At the defense's request, the preliminary investigations judge ordered the replacement of the precautionary measure: the man was placed under house arrest. The measure was granted on the condition that the suspect consent to the application of an electronic bracelet for remote monitoring.

Reading this article, it seems like a very ugly and complicated story. I'm not sure how things unfolded. The man appears to have committed violence but was then placed under house arrest with an electronic bracelet. The woman and the child need more protection and support, but I don't understand if that's the solution.
