A theft was discovered in the early hours of the morning in the Church of the Santissima Annunziata in Angri, one of the religious symbols most cherished by the Salerno community. Mario Ingenito, a longtime collaborator of the parish and of Father Antonio Mancuso, made the grim discovery while, as he did every day, preparing liturgical services.

Signs of forced entry and general chaos

At the entrance, Ingenito noticed ransacked candelabras and church furnishings. A closer inspection revealed worse trouble: Don Mancuso's office was devastated, with broken glass and clear signs of forced entry. The thieves, after ransacking everything, made off with a paltry haul: a few euros in cash.

Mysterious objects and first leads

A cell phone and a bracelet were found at the scene, which have now been seized and are being examined by investigators. They could be traces left by the criminals or typos from the raid: forensic analysis will soon clarify the situation.

Carabinieri investigations underway

The Carabinieri of the local station intervened immediately, launching an investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office. The forensic team conducted technical surveys to identify those responsible. The incident sparked fear, dismay, and outrage among the faithful and the entire Angrese community, which witnessed the violation of one of its oldest and most cherished churches.
