A 45-year-old woman living in Pompeii was arrested by the Carabinieri for possession of drugs with intent to sell. The unusual incident occurred on Corso Italia, in Sant'Agnello, on the Sorrento peninsula, where she was stopped while driving her Dacia Sandero with her five-year-old son.
Control and discovery
It all began during a routine checkpoint conducted by the Carabinieri of the Sorrento station. The patrol ordered the vehicle driven by the 45-year-old to stop. Initially, the officers attributed the woman's nervousness to the presence of her child, who was restless in the front seat.
However, excessive agitation prompted the officers to investigate further. The search revealed that the driver was concealing nine doses of cocaine, ready to be sold.
House arrest for the 45-year-old
Faced with the evidence, the woman was taken to the police station. After completing the standard investigations and preparing the seizure reports, the Carabinieri arrested her for possession with intent to sell. The magistrate on duty then ordered the 45-year-old to be placed under house arrest, pending a summary trial.
The child entertained in the barracks
Meanwhile, the five-year-old boy, apparently unaware of the situation, was more fascinated by the flashing lights and the Carabinieri patrol car than by what was happening to his mother. During the legal proceedings, the off-duty soldiers cared for the little boy at the barracks, keeping him company with cartoons and snacks, to distract him during such a delicate moment.

It's a very complicated situation for this woman and especially for the child, who is not to blame. It's hard to understand how something like this could happen. I hope there's help for the family.
