Marano – A thick column of smoke has once again risen from the offices of the former Justice of the Peace in Marano. Last night, a large-scale fire engulfed the building, particularly affecting several rooms that housed a significant amount of court documents.
The Carabinieri of the local company intervened promptly on site to secure the area and begin the initial investigations.
The fire in the "seals" sector
The most concerning fact concerns the location of the flames. The fire has in fact devoured the premises that had been placed under preventive seizure during 2025.
These rooms housed the files relating to numerous civil proceedings, a highly sensitive documentary heritage that is now at risk of being lost forever beneath the ashes.
The shadow of fraud and the investigations
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far, but the damage to the building and the archive is extensive.
The Carabinieri are working tirelessly to clarify the exact circumstances of the event. Although there is no official confirmation yet, arson remains the most likely theory: the nature of the premises targeted and the importance of the destroyed documents lead investigators not to rule out a targeted act to sabotage the course of civil justice.
In the next few hours, any images from the area's video surveillance systems will be acquired to identify any suspicious activity near the building before the flames broke out.
