Caserta – Nine young people, between the ages of 24 and 34, have been placed under investigation by the State Police for a violent brawl that broke out in the center of Marcianise on New Year's Eve. The fight, which escalated into glass bottles being thrown, resulted in several participants being hospitalized, fortunately for non-serious injuries.
The dynamics of the clash
According to the reconstruction by officers from the Marcianise police station and the Municipal Police, it all began with a trivial pretext late in the evening of December 31st. A trivial altercation, perhaps over "a look or a word too many," sparked a firestorm among a group of young people.
The words quickly turned into threats, followed by physical aggression, with punches, slaps, and the use of broken bottles as weapons. The situation, until then confined to an argument, erupted into a full-blown battle on the streets of the Caserta town.
The investigations: the cameras don't lie
The investigation began and the dynamics of the incident were clarified by images from the city center's video surveillance cameras. A meticulous analysis of the footage allowed investigators to identify the brawl's protagonists and reconstruct the various stages of the confrontation, up until the moment ambulances were called to treat the injured, who were then transported to Aversa Hospital.
The consequences: urban Daspo and expulsion orders
In addition to the complaints for brawling, which have already been filed, the Caserta Police Headquarters' Anti-Crime Division has begun an investigation into a more severe and preventive measure: the urban DASPO.
If issued, the measure would prohibit the nine from accessing all public establishments and entertainment venues (bars, restaurants, pubs) in Marcianise, also preventing them from staying in the immediate vicinity.
But that's not all. The Municipality of Marcianise has initiated the procedure for issuing "expulsion orders" against some of the youths involved. This administrative measure, applied to individuals deemed socially dangerous, requires them to be forced to leave the municipal area (if different from their place of residence) where they have engaged in serious public order-related behavior. This is a drastic measure taken to try to prevent the recurrence of violent incidents.

I read about the incident and it seems incredible to me that young people could do so simply because of a look or a word. It would be important to reflect on the consequences of such actions and how to prevent it from happening again in the future.
