Milan — Police officer Carmelo Cinturrino was arrested while on duty at his office at the Via Mecenate police station, accused of the murder of Abderrahim Mansouri, 28, who was shot on January 26 during a drug check in the Rogoredo woods, on the southeastern outskirts of the city.

The order was carried out by investigators from the Flying Squad, coordinated by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office, approximately an hour after the officer began his shift, having started work at 8:00 a.m.

The investigation: the victim was not armed

The investigative finding that Mansouri was not holding a weapon at the time of the shot was crucial to the arrest.

According to the Police Headquarters, the gun found next to the body was apparently placed there only later. This led investigators to charge the officer with voluntary manslaughter, thus ruling out the self-defense theory he had maintained until now.

The family's lawyers: "He didn't act alone."

The arrest represents "a fitting outcome in a constitutional state where the judiciary can investigate freely," say lawyers Debora Piazza and Marco Romagnoli, who are representing the victim's family.

Attorney Piazza expressed doubts about the suspect's actions: "We don't believe the chief assistant did it all alone. He received significant support from his colleagues."
Hence the appeal: "It's time, if they have any conscience, to tell the whole truth about what happened that day in Rogoredo."

The Rogoredo case

The shooting occurred during an anti-drug operation in the wooded area of Rogoredo, known for years as one of the main drug dealing hubs in the Milan area. Mansouri, identified by investigators as an active drug dealer in the area, was fatally hit by a single bullet.

The investigation's development has now overturned the officer's initial defense reconstruction, opening up an investigative scenario aimed at clarifying any further responsibilities and possible misdirections following the shooting.

This article is very interesting and gives pause for thought about how justice works in Italy. It's important to know that the victim was unarmed, but many unanswered questions remain regarding what happened and the responsibilities of the police officer's colleagues.
