Somma Vesuviana – The security offensive at nightlife venues in Naples and its province continues. Following the monitoring efforts launched last week to prevent further tragedies, the Carabinieri of the Naples Provincial Command have launched a new targeted operation.
After yesterday's raid in Sant'Antimo, the spotlight was turned to Somma Vesuviana last night, where soldiers from the Castello di Cisterna company, supported by the Fire Brigade, inspected a well-known nightclub on Via Pomigliano.
More than double the permitted amount
The scene unfolding before the police confirmed the urgency of the checks: 650 young people were inside the nightclub. This was an exorbitant number, more than double the maximum authorized capacity of 300 people.
A potentially dangerous situation that prompted immediate evacuation measures: the evacuation of the young people proceeded calmly and without any public order issues, ensuring the safety of those present.
Safety ignored: fire extinguishers missing
The joint inspection with the Fire Department revealed worrying structural issues. In addition to overcrowding, the lack of adequate fire protection equipment and the number of fire extinguishers completely insufficient to cover the space were found.
In light of the violations, the president of the association that manages the facility has been reported to the judicial authorities. The Carabinieri's objective remains clear: to enforce compliance to prevent a festive evening from turning into a tragedy. Meanwhile, the fire department has notified the owner of the suspension of operations.
Roadblocks and seizures
The operation wasn't limited to the club's interior. The Carabinieri cordoned off the outside area and the surrounding areas, conducting extensive checkpoints. The night's activity resulted in 27 identified individuals and 22 vehicles being checked. Rigorous checks in compliance with the Highway Code led to the seizure of five vehicles, which were found to be unlicensed.
