Naples, Poggioreale area: an evening that turns into a lightning-fast investigation. Carabinieri from the local unit were conducting a routine patrol when, during the night, their attention was caught by a Peugeot 3008 driving along Vico Case Maione.
A soldier, in order to carry out the check, raised his signal. Instead of stopping, the driver accelerated, deciding not to obey the signal.
A brief chase ensued: the Carabinieri positioned themselves behind the car, waiting for the driver to decide to stop on his own. Shortly thereafter, however, the young man made a reckless maneuver, losing control of the vehicle and hitting a parked car head-on. The crash forced the man to stop, and the officers immediately intervened.
Marijuana and missing license
Once stopped, the 19-year-old was identified as Biagio Sorrentino, already known to law enforcement. After a personal search, the Carabinieri found approximately 2 grams of marijuana on him. Subsequent investigations also revealed that the young man did not have a driver's license.
For these reasons, the 19-year-old was arrested for resisting a public officer, illegal possession of narcotics, and driving without a license. After the standard procedures, he was placed under house arrest pending a summary trial.
