The Floridiana is preparing to turn the page. In the heart of Vomero, a large-scale and gradual project officially begins, aiming to restore full safety and revitalization to the historic park surrounding the Duca di Martina Museum. The work, announced by the Vomero National Museums together with the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Campania, will last approximately eight months and will extensively affect the complex's greenery.

The opening of the construction site is the result of a lengthy process of studies and technical assessments, considered essential for the work on a garden of exceptional landscape and botanical value. The entire area was surveyed using laser scanning technology and accompanied by a georeferenced census of over a thousand trees, each catalogued and analyzed. The surveys, including instrumental ones, allowed the stability and health of the trees to be assessed, thanks to the use of advanced techniques and the work of specialists working directly at altitude.

The data collected led to the development of a tree risk map, a tool that allows for the planning of targeted and tailored interventions on a case-by-case basis. The planned operations range from routine maintenance to structural rebalancing interventions, up to more aggressive actions where necessary, always accompanied by compensation and reintegration measures to ensure long-term sustainable management.

Some of the results are already visible. Some previously closed areas have been reopened after specific phytosanitary treatments, while lighting systems and irrigation networks have been installed in various areas of the park. Public restrooms are also fully usable again, and infestations that threatened some pine trees in the green areas in front of the museum have been resolved.

The project, funded by Ales, an in-house company of the Ministry of Culture, will be implemented in phases to limit disruption and keep the park accessible during the work. The greenery project is part of a broader plan involving the entire Floridiana complex. At the Duca di Martina Museum, new tools are being installed to improve accessibility and use, including the creation of a digital version of the museum tour.

Alongside this, plans include the restoration of the playgrounds, new sports equipment, watering points for dogs, and a future dog-walking area. The greenhouse area will also be revitalized, destined to become a vibrant and well-equipped space. This package of interventions aims to restore the Floridiana not only to its historical value, but also to its role as a large urban garden enjoyed daily by residents and visitors.
