Naples is a key player at the International Tourism Exchange (BIT) in Milan, hosted by the Campania Region stand, confirming the renewed and positive institutional relationship between the Municipality of Naples and the regional administration.

Participation in the event, scheduled for February 10th to 12th at Rho Fiera, strengthens the city's role within the regional tourism strategy and highlights its contribution in terms of programming and planning.

2025 record and a new step

2025 ended with a record result: the city surpassed 20 million visitors, thanks to the celebrations for the 2500th anniversary of its foundation and Napoli's fourth Scudetto.
In Milan, the Campania capital is presenting the so-called "Naples Model," an advanced phase of its tourism journey launched three years ago and characterized by quality planning, from flow management to the structural strengthening of reception services.

Councillor Armato speaks

"The BIT is a moment of concrete discussion between territories, operators, and institutions on the issues that truly matter today: flow management, sustainability, quality of services, and integration between levels of government," explains Teresa Armato, Councilor for Tourism and Productive Activities of the City of Naples.

"Naples has become a well-rounded tourist destination and brings to Milan an experience that helps transform tourism into a stable resource for the city."

Structural and digital tools

The municipal administration is focusing on structural tools: data analysis from the Urban Tourism Observatory (OTU), the DMO's engagement with international buyers and media—through family trips and participation in trade fairs—and the launch of digital hospitality services.

Meanwhile, a single cultural and tourist app is being developed, along with the installation of digital information points and automated restrooms, also thanks to ministerial resources.

Task force for services and overall quality

The enhancement of services is entrusted to an interdepartmental task force that, in addition to reception, deals with cleaning, safety, and public transport.
In this context, data on the average stay, which approaches three nights, and a return rate above 90% confirm Naples' evolution toward a more structured and polycentric destination.

Cultural and sports programming

As for the programming, the "See Naples and Return" series, which runs throughout the year, has been confirmed.
Furthermore, the major events of the City of Music continue, with concerts at the Maradona Stadium, in Piazza del Plebiscito, and at the Mostra d'Oltremare, in addition to the major sporting challenges.

The Gulf of Naples will host the pre-regattas in July 2026, a taste of the 2027 America's Cup, an event of international importance destined to have medium- to long-term benefits for the entire city and, in particular, for Bagnoli.

Presentation of the official channels

Milan will also see the official Instagram and Facebook channels @napolianewcity, curated by the DMO, presented as key tools for the city's tourism and cultural communication.

Two events at the centre of the debate

Two panels saw the direct involvement of Councilor Teresa Armato along with regional and local institutional representatives.
First up, on Tuesday, February 10th at 12:00 pm, is the press conference “Tourism and cities: Region and local authorities for a new program.”
Following, at 2:30 pm, the panel "America's Cup, coastal areas, new links for inland areas, for the whole of Campania."

The article mentions Naples and the BIT, but it's unclear how it's impacted by all this. Many visitors are well, but there are also infrastructure issues that need to be resolved to ensure a better experience for everyone.
