Naples – Levels of micropollutants detected in the air following the fire at the Sannazaro Theater are below reference standards. Based on these data, Naples Mayor Gaetano Manfredi has revoked the urgent measures adopted on February 17 to protect public health and safety in the Chiaia neighborhood affected by the blaze.

The initial results of air quality monitoring, reported by the Campania Regional Agency for Environmental Protection (ARPAC), have revealed that concentrations of fume-derived micropollutants are within the safety limits set by law.

In particular, the analyses did not reveal any concentrations of fine particles, aromatic hydrocarbons, or other toxic compounds that could pose a health risk to people in the area.

End of emergency ordinance in Chiaia

Following the adoption of the ordinance on February 17, which imposed certain restrictions and precautionary advice for those in the immediate vicinity of the Sannazaro Theater, the Municipality formally revoked those measures today.

The decision was announced by the municipal administration itself, which explained that the environmental situation has returned to normal and no further emergency action is required.

No new fires, but vigilance remains

The authorities, however, emphasize the need to maintain high levels of vigilance regarding historic buildings and public spaces, particularly regarding fire prevention and technical inspections. The Sannazaro Theater incident, which occurred in recent days, triggered extensive monitoring and inspection activities across the area, which are still ongoing as usual.

It seems fair to me that levels have returned to normal, but controls should remain active at all times. People are quite scared, and historic buildings need more technical checks; but we hope that everything remains under control and that no other similar incidents occur.
