Naples – Yesterday afternoon, a routine patrol turned into a major drug bust in the Materdei neighborhood. Officers from the San Carlo-Arena Police Station, while patrolling Corso Amedeo di Savoia, noticed a man on a scooter, cautiously wandering around.
The subject's cautious attitude, which seemed to be waiting for someone, prompted the police to intervene for a thorough check.
From sachets to drug depot
The officers' hunch proved correct: the 47-year-old, a Neapolitan with a criminal record involving drugs, was found in possession of five bags of marijuana and 40 euros in cash.
However, convinced that this was just the bottom of the barrel, the police decided to extend the search to a room used by the man. It was here that the actual drug dealing headquarters was discovered: inside the room, they found 14 blocks of hashish (and one loose fragment) weighing approximately 1,5 kilograms.
The kidnapping and the handcuffs
In addition to the large quantity of drugs, officers seized a knife with the blade still stained with narcotics—clear evidence of ongoing drug fractionation—and various materials used to package the doses. The 47-year-old was immediately arrested and charged with illegal possession of narcotics.

It's strange how people think these things never happen in their neighborhood. Yet the police do an important job, but there are always risks and dangers. Let's hope the situation improves.
