Concern is growing at the Antonio Genovesi classical high school in Piazza del Gesù, in the historic center of Naples. According to reports from students and family members, in recent days, coinciding with the rains, ceiling panels on the third floor of the building have been detaching and collapsing, causing falls in the classroom area and resulting safety concerns during classes.
“When it rains the panels come off”
The complaint was raised and relaunched by the Green-Left Alliance MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who reported the content of a message received from a student: “We are afraid to be in class.
When it rains, the panels come off. The principal told us that all he can do is apply a liquid sheath, but in the meantime he makes us stay in the classroom with the risk of something falling on our heads."
A concern that, according to reports, is also shared by the students' families, who are calling for urgent and decisive interventions to prevent further collapses.
Borrelli's position: "Safety is the absolute priority."
"It's unacceptable that a school in the historic center of Naples, a school of excellence like Genovesi, must live with the risk of collapse every time a little water falls," Borrelli declared. "The safety of students and school staff must be the absolute priority, not an optional extra to be managed with makeshift solutions."
“If a classroom is unusable, it should be closed”
The MP calls for an inspection and immediate action: "We won't wait for a serious problem to occur before intervening. Those who manage school buildings must come out of their offices and see the conditions our students are studying in. If a classroom is unusable, it must be closed and made safe; we can't hope for luck."

I agree with Ksartori: it's important for the school to take serious measures to avoid accidents. Safety must be the priority, and we can't wait for something to happen.
The situation at Genovesi High School is very serious and worrying. It's unacceptable that students are forced to remain in classrooms with the risk of collapse. Something must be done immediately for everyone's safety.
