Naples – A locked emergency exit, unusable fire extinguishers, and no safety documentation. These are the findings of a Carabinieri raid on a popular nightclub on Via Coroglio, in the Bagnoli nightlife district. The venue was seized because it was deemed potentially dangerous for customers and employees.
The blitz in the night
The checks are part of a widespread operation conducted by the Carabinieri across the province of Naples on nightclubs. On the night between Friday and Saturday, officers from the Bagnoli Company, along with firefighters, the Naples 1 Central Health Authority, and the Labor Inspectorate (Nil), raided the nightclub to verify compliance with safety and work regulations.
Undeclared workers and serious shortages
During the investigation, six workers were identified as being employed illegally. No documentation relating to workplace safety or a risk assessment document was found. Personal protective equipment and health surveillance for the staff were also missing.
Unusable fire extinguishers and non-compliant electrical system
Further critical issues concerned fire prevention measures: the fire extinguishers were not readily usable because they were blocked by piled up materials, while the electrical system was found to not comply with current regulations.
The most serious aspect concerned the only emergency exit in the club, which was locked, a circumstance that could have transformed the nightclub into a real trap in an emergency.
The premises were seized, customers were allowed to leave without disturbances.
Given the violations found, the nightclub was seized and the owner reported. The approximately one hundred people present inside the venue at the time of the inspection were allowed to leave without any disturbances or tensions.

It's truly alarming that there are places like this where safety is neglected. The closure of the emergency exit is a serious problem; I hope the authorities intervene to ensure the safety of all customers.
