Carabinieri from the Naples Central Company executed a community placement order in the early hours of today against a 17-year-old Neapolitan boy, seriously suspected of attempted aggravated arson. The order was issued by the investigating judge of the Naples Juvenile Court at the request of the Naples Juvenile Prosecutor's Office.

The attempted arson attack of January 12th

According to investigators' reconstruction, the young man attempted to set fire to a private home on Via Carlo De Marco on January 12th, using flammable liquid and matches. The act, captured by surveillance cameras, allowed judicial police to locate and identify the alleged perpetrator.

Investigations and technical findings

The testimonies gathered and the house searches ordered by the judicial authorities also proved crucial in determining who was responsible. The technical investigations carried out at the scene, conducted jointly by the Carabinieri and the fire department, also confirmed the fire's high rate of spread and the resulting dangerousness of the act.

The motive: retaliation for the attack on the "baretti"

Investigative findings suggest the attack may have been a retaliatory attack following the attempted murder of 18-year-old footballer Bruno Petrone, which occurred in late December in the "baretti" area of Chiaia. The family of one of those under investigation for that attack is believed to live in the building targeted by the fire.

The 17-year-old now receiving the measure had turned himself in at the Pastrengo barracks of the Naples Provincial Carabinieri Command and had been reported for revealing the names of his alleged accomplices, who were later arrested by the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office.

In the coming days, the minor will be questioned by the preliminary investigations judge. The presumption of innocence remains in effect: any liability will be determined only with a final sentence.

The article talks about a young man who attempted to set fire to a house, but I don't understand how it could have happened. It's worrying to see such young people involved in violent acts. Let's hope justice takes its course.
