Naples – Four people have been reported at large by the Carabinieri of the Naples Mobile Radio Unit for conspiracy to commit aggravated damage. The incident occurred in the Chiaiano neighborhood, where the four—all males between the ages of 32 and 36—were caught red-handed spray-painting a Line 1 subway train.

The operation began on Via Roberto Cortese: the officers, during a routine patrol, noticed the suspicious activity and arrested the perpetrators in the act. All four are already known to law enforcement for similar or other criminal offenses.

Ninety-one cans of spray paint used for graffiti were seized from the suspects. This act, in addition to defacing a public transport vehicle essential to urban mobility, constitutes a crime that could carry significant criminal consequences.

Incidents of vandalism on trains and in Naples' metro stations unfortunately occur with some frequency, despite increased security. The National Association of Magistrates and the police are continuing their monitoring efforts to combat the phenomenon and protect public property.

I don't understand how something like this can happen, it's absurd! People should respect public transportation and not ruin other people's jobs. Fines should be more severe for this kind of behavior.

It's important that the authorities intervene in these cases of damage, but I wonder if it's enough. Vandals must be severely punished to protect public property and the community. Let's hope there are more controls.
