There were moments of fear this morning in Naples, where a fire broke out inside a hotel in Piazza Garibaldi, in the heart of the central station area. The flames, which began on the fifth floor of the building for reasons still under investigation, quickly filled the corridors with smoke, effectively trapping four people inside.
Firefighters immediately responded to the scene. To reach the victims, who were trapped on the upper floors, rescuers used a ladder truck, managing to rescue two adults and two minors. Once brought to the ground, the four were immediately handed over to 118 paramedics for assessment. Their lives are not believed to be in danger.
Firefighting operations are now complete, but firefighters remain at work to complete the cleanup of the area and secure the entire hotel to prevent further risks. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
