Naples – These aren't pranks, but actual criminal acts that put the lives of passersby and the perpetrators themselves at risk. This is the outcome of a night of patrols by the Carabinieri of the Napoli Stella Company, who encountered alarming scenes of juvenile delinquency: high-speed chases, stabbings, and a complete lack of supervision by families.
The Panda Escape and the Crime Kit
The first episode began around 23:00 PM, when a Fiat Panda with three people aboard ignored a police stop signal. A cinematic thirty-minute chase ensued, winding through wrong-way maneuvers, cutting through roundabouts, and knocking down guardrails by an inexperienced but reckless driver.
The mad dash ended in Villaricca. Two of the three occupants were apprehended after attempting to flee on foot: two boys aged 14 and 15. Inside the car, the Carabinieri found a knife and a baseball bat. The two were arrested and transferred to the Colli Aminei reception center. The car owner's son confessed to the officers with disarming naiveté: "Mom doesn't know I took the car."
Challenge the patrols at 150 km/h in an SUV
Almost simultaneously, in Piazza Giovan Battista di Vittorio, another team from the Operations Unit intercepted a BMW X6 with six young people on board. Again, the driver fled the scene rather than stop. The heavy SUV sped toward Corso Secondigliano, reaching speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour.
Once stopped, the surprise: all six occupants were minors (between 16 and 17). The sixteen-year-old driver was charged with resisting a public officer and driving without a license. Here too, fear of domestic consequences overrode the awareness of the seriousness of the crime: "Dad doesn't know, don't tell him!" the boy pleaded before the entire group was returned to their respective parents.

This is disturbing news, but I don't want to overstate it. The kids seem to be doing pranks, but perhaps there's also a lack of supervision by their families and the school. Parents don't understand, and society doesn't help, and that's why it happens. The cars were speeding too fast, and the police did their duty.
