School buses modified to carry more children than permitted and vehicles used without the necessary permits. This is what emerged from an inspection conducted by the Naples Local Police, which highlighted the safety of school transportation in the city.

The checks were carried out by officers from the Tourist Police Unit in the Corso Malta area, where several vehicles used to transport students were stopped. The checks uncovered situations deemed particularly serious from a safety perspective, starting with structural modifications made to the vehicles to increase the number of seats. These unauthorized interventions, according to the findings, altered the vehicles' original characteristics, exposing passengers to risks in the event of an accident.

Not only that, some drivers allegedly carried out transportation activities illegally, using vehicles not intended for that type of service or lacking the required regulatory requirements. Furthermore, in several cases, the vehicles had an external appearance similar to that of legally authorized school buses, a choice that could have misled families.

A total of ten vehicles were inspected and twelve traffic violations were reported, including transporting excess passengers, unauthorized modifications, failure to have undergone inspections, and safety device deficiencies. Two vehicles were seized for confiscation. The operation also resulted in the suspension of three driving licenses and the revocation of three vehicle registration certificates.
