Naples – A peaceful evening stroll turned into a nightmare for a 62-year-old American tourist, the victim of a robbery in the city center. The incident occurred in Piazza Garibaldi, in the open-air parking lot in front of the train station, one of the city's busiest and busiest areas.
According to an initial reconstruction, still being examined by investigators, the man was approached and surrounded by a group of five people, most likely non-EU citizens.
The criminals, with skill and violence, allegedly tore a gold necklace from his neck and fled. While trying to free himself, or because of the push, the 62-year-old allegedly lost his balance and fell heavily to the ground.
The victim and the hospitalization
Emergency services were called immediately. Emergency medical services arrived on the scene and, after providing initial treatment, arranged for the tourist to be transported to the emergency room at the Ospedale del Mare. His condition is not believed to be serious, but he was held for further assessment and to recover from his state of shock.
The Carabinieri of the Poggioreale branch are investigating the case.
