Naples – A morning of violence broke out in the heart of Naples' shopping district. On a crowded Via Toledo, a 46-year-old man was arrested by police on charges of snatching and robbing an Italian tourist.
The incident unfolded quickly before the eyes of passersby: the man attacked a 23-year-old woman from Matera, forcibly ripping an earring from her earlobe. The violence of the attack left the young woman with a laceration and bruise, requiring emergency medical assistance.
Rescue and arrest: The victim was taken to the nearby Pellegrini Hospital, where doctors provided the necessary treatment for the ear injury. The young woman was discharged with a ten-day prognosis.
At the same time, the swift reaction of the police allowed them to stop the criminal, a Neapolitan already known to the authorities, just as he was trying to disappear into the crowd on Via Toledo.
Legal procedures: After receiving the victim's complaint and completing the required investigations, the officers notified the magistrate on duty at the Public Prosecutor's Office. The 46-year-old was immediately placed in handcuffs: he will remain at the disposal of the judicial authorities pending his trial in a summary proceeding.
