A serious case of safety violations has led to the suspension of operations at a nightclub in Sant'Antimo. This measure is part of an extraordinary inspection program launched in the provinces of Naples and Caserta, intensified after the Crans-Montana tragedy, which refocused national attention on compliance with fire safety regulations in public spaces.
Inspection by the Carabinieri and the Local Health Authority
During a joint inspection conducted by the Carabinieri of the Giugliano Company, the Labor Inspectorate, and staff from the Naples 2 North Local Health Authority, a violation of fire prevention regulations was discovered. For this reason, the owner of the premises was reported to the judicial authorities.
Fire prevention system missing on the upper floor
The investigation revealed that the upper floor of the nightclub was completely devoid of a fire extinguishing system. Furthermore, the facility lacked a formally designated and adequately trained person to manage emergencies and apply the fire safety procedures required by law.
Land registry discrepancies and health irregularities
The inspections also revealed some land registry discrepancies, as well as critical issues related to health regulations and compliance with HACCP procedures. However, no irregularities were identified regarding employment: of the 26 workers inspected, none were found to be employed illegally.
Customers were forced out and business was suspended
As a precaution, all customers were asked to leave the venue before the end of the evening. Following the inspection, the venue was immediately closed.
Widespread checks between Naples and Caserta
The Sant'Antimo operation is part of a broader inspection campaign targeting nightclubs, pubs, and entertainment venues in the provinces of Naples and Caserta.
Law enforcement and health authorities are scrutinizing dozens of establishments to ensure they comply with safety regulations, with particular attention to fire prevention systems, emergency exits, and permitted capacity, in an effort to prevent tragedies similar to the one in Crans-Montana.

It's truly worrying that there are so many irregularities in a venue that should guarantee the safety of its customers. I hope a more rigorous inspection is carried out on all entertainment venues in the area, not just in Sant'Antimo.
