Naples – Saturday evening saw tight security in the heart of Vomero. The State Police, acting on orders from the Naples Police Headquarters, led a large-scale joint operation to monitor key nightlife hotspots and ensure compliance with safety and legal regulations.
The device in the field
The operation involved a synergistic collaboration between the Vomero and San Giovanni Barra police stations, the Guardia di Finanza (Financial Police), the Local Police, and the technical support of the Fire Department and the ASL Napoli 1 Centro (Naples Central Health Authority). The operation covered key areas of the hillside neighborhood: from San Martino to Piazza Vanvitelli, passing through Piazza Medaglie d'Oro and the pedestrian zones of Via Scarlatti and Via Luca Giordano.
During the operation, officers checked 55 people, seven of whom were already known to law enforcement due to criminal records. The monitoring also included road traffic inspections, with 15 vehicles checked, to prevent traffic violations and petty crime.
Crackdown on commercial activities
The operation's heaviest toll, however, was on the retail sector. Of the eight public establishments inspected, numerous critical issues were identified:
Administrative Violations: Several owners have been fined for significant non-compliance with current regulations.
Workplace Safety: A business has been placed under immediate suspension due to serious safety deficiencies.
Undeclared work: Inspectors identified an unregistered worker, triggering an official report to the Labor Inspectorate.
Yesterday's activity is part of a broader strategy to protect the area, aiming to balance young people's right to entertainment with the safety of residents and the protection of workers in the sector.

It's important for the police to carry out safety checks, but there are also many young people who just wanted to have fun without any problems. Let's hope a balance is found between regulations and fun.
