Orta di Atella – Inspections to protect the Aversa countryside continue unabated. A car body shop in Orta di Atella has come under law enforcement's scrutiny, with its owner charged with environmental crimes following a targeted inspection.
The blitz and the irregularities
The operation was conducted by the Carabinieri of the local station, supported by the specific expertise of the Marcianise Carabinieri Forestry Unit. During the inspection of the business, the officers found a serious violation of public health and environmental regulations.
Welding operations were regularly carried out within the workshop, processes that generate potentially harmful fumes and particles. Investigations revealed that these emissions were being released into the atmosphere in the complete absence of the required authorizations required by current environmental legislation (Legislative Decree 152/2006).
Report and large fine
The consequences for the business owner, a 61-year-old local man, were immediate. He was reported to the Judicial Authorities at liberty for the illegal management of atmospheric emissions.
In addition to the criminal charges, the police imposed a hefty administrative fine of €2.500. At the same time, they issued specific legal requirements: the body shop must now regularize its administrative status and obtain the necessary licenses to continue its environmentally friendly work.

It's important for law enforcement to conduct inspections to protect the environment, as this helps prevent environmental problems. However, I believe they should conduct more inspections of other businesses, not just auto body shops.
